Lesson Delivery

All language lesson should be delivered in a fun way to aid learning. The most effective learning method is to learn by actively taking  part in fun and interesting language learning activities. The human brains are conditioned to remember things that we enjoy doing. Therefore, as teachers, we will be more effective if we deliver the lesson such that our students enjoy doing language learning activities lessons after lessons. A little spontaneous humor during lesson is often remembered and appreciated long after the lesson had ended.

Lesson delivery starts the moment a teacher enters the classroom and gives lesson instructions. There should be lots of students’ participation and involvement with the teacher taking on the role of monitoring and facilitating most of the times. Classroom teaching occupies a portion of lesson delivery time with the bulk of the rest of the time spend on language learning activities, for example, ‘ find someone who’, ‘creating a dialogue’, ‘cloze’, ‘sequencing’, etc. Each activity must be related to the objectives of the lesson and there must be progression and coherence within the lesson. Written exercises can be given in small proportion during lesson in the classroom if necessary. However, most written exercises should be given as homework if possible and they will be reviewed in the next lesson.

Teachers must cater to all types of learners the classroom. We need to deliver the lesson orally, visually, and kinesthetically as well as utilize the classroom facilities and teaching aids such that every activity can capture the attention of every learner type (oral, visual or kinesthetic).
